Please note that any COVID-19 guidelines in place at the time will be observed for all field trips
Field trips are the Yukon Bird Club’s major activity each year from April to November. Knowledgeable local leaders will guide each outing and while they cannot guarantee the weather will be perfect, they will do their very best to make sure everyone has a great time and learns something new about Yukon Birds. You can also count on some great interaction with colourful members of the Yukon birdwatching community!
(Note: This is a slightly revised version as of 30 April. Haines Junction field trip is 11 May not 18 May as previously shown. Also there were some duplicated trips at the top of page 2 in the 26 April version!)
UPDATE 12 May, 2022 There will be a BONUS field trip as follows, courtesy of Julie Bauer (Thank you Julie!):
Wed 18 May: Haines Junction — Spring migration (2nd view…) at the scenic lagoons! Meet at 6 pm at the entrance to the sewage lagoons (additional parking across the highway by the landfill). Contact leader Julie Bauer at 336-0688 if you have any questions. Bring binoculars, and a scope if you have one (2 hours). #learntobird
ALSO on WED 18 MAY: Litter Pickup at Quartz Road!
Yukon Bird Club is doing an after-work litter cleanup along the Quartz Road Marsh. Volunteers welcome! [This is an important migratory bird wetland yet receives a large volume of plastic and other garbage that can hurt birds and other wildlife] Meet at Walmart parking lot at 5:30 pm. Equipment will be provided but feel
free to bring vests and gloves if you have them. For more information please contact Sean Munro (709) 699-0396
