Yukon Bird Club traditionally has a mid-winter evening potluck dinner and slideshow — one of our few in-person events that is not a field trip. This is an opportunity for birdwatchers of all stripes to gather, socialize, enjoy a nice meal, and share their photos and stories of ornithological adventure! This event is usually held in mid-January, just when everyone needs a little pick-me-up as we begin to emerge from the dead of winter. Please consider attending – it’s one of the best opportunities to socialize with other Yukon bird enthusiasts, including the people who keep the Yukon Bird Club going. The public is welcome, you don’t need to be a member of the Yukon Bird Club.
This year our annual Potluck, Silent Auction and Slideshow will be held at Hellaby Hall at 6 PM Thursday January 26th, 2023. Bring your favourite potluck dish and photos! Please keep pictures to 10 or less on a thumb drive. We are looking forward to seeing everyone – you do not need to be a Yukon Bird Club member to attend. This is our first in person indoor event since 2020 so it will be a great opportunity to catch up with your fellow birdwatchers.
We are planning some activities to entertain you and there will be a silent auction for three beautiful matted and framed art prints by the outstanding bird artist John Pitcher. These prints (below) feature some of our most iconic winter birds, and were donated by longstanding YBC supporter Ione Christensen. Proceeds will be used to support the Yukon Bird Club’s programs.
